Over the past two months, three different people have commented on how healthy my skin looks. To which my response has always been, the most dumbfounded look coupled with a delayed, “Uhh…what, me?”
I’ve never had particularly bad skin; I’ve never had to deal with anything like cystic acne or psoriasis but for as long as I can remember I’ve had red spots, dry spots, and I’m prone to breakouts when I moisturize (yes, I realize that’s insane and yes, that also means I only recently started regularly moisturizing — the horror). These fun facial issues are 10x worse during winter. Go figure. I’ve spent a lot of years and a lot of money to find the perfect concoction of serums and moisturizers that will moisturize those dry, flaky spots without creating a hotbed for a colony of zits. The day and nighttime lineup below has worked wonders for me and since a whole three people seemed to be interested in the details, I figured you might want in on my skin care secrets too.
The hardest part of this new routine? Not tossing these bottles when you don’t see results the next day. Hello. Nothing works that quickly. So stick with it and when you’re about a quarter-way through the bottle, you’ll start seeing results. Promise. Love, this recently converted skin care addict.
Start with 1. Layer 2, 3, then 4. Erryday. Erry. Damn. Day. PLEASE NOTE that SPF is not included in these serums and creams and you should be wearing SPF everyday; whether you’re 18 or 38. Trust me, as someone who spent every summer outside as a swim coach/lifeguard and has been under one of those sun spot lamp things…your 50 year old face will thank you. My foundation has SPF in it and I also use this Supergoop makeup setting mist with SPF. Doubletime because it’s that important.
The same serum you use during your daytime during is also the first step of your nighttime routine. Layer the moisturizer and finish with eye cream.
