Sometimes life throws you little unexpecteds during a jam packed week & leaves you thinking, “What the hell am I going to wear?”. Well, life, one point to you. The first thing I do when I know the week ahead is booked solid with meetings & events is to plan my outfits – something I have never ever done. I blame the uniform I wore until I was 17 years old. Thanks, private school.
The second thing I do is call a gal-pal-lady-friend. My mind is in 17 different places. I’m thinking about the meeting I have a 2pm on Monday afternoon, how I’m getting to the event that night at 7, what to wear to that event, if I’m going to get there on time, what happens if work runs over & I can’t get there on time, if I feel like having Panera for lunch or if I feel like starving myself in order to get through the day & be able to actually be able to get my work done without taking the 30 minute lunch break that I really shouldn’t take because I don’t have enough time & what I’m going to wear on Monday that’s both appropriate for the meeting but not too stuffy for that night’s event. See? 17 places. So having a homegirl come over that has an equally conservative job but also likes to rage like it’s 1999 is preferable so she can talk you out of wearing “casual sequins” to that meeting.
Third, & possibly the most important thing? Champs. Obviously. Would you expect anything less? Remember all those things life has just thrown your way in a matter of moments that has effectively changed your entire week? That week that you didn’t have time to deal with anything else being thrown into the mix? That’s what the champs is for. Well, that & any girl time is occassion enough for champs.
So, homegirl is present. We pop some insanely tasty bubbly. I scare myself as I open the bottle because, let’s be honest, I always do. & homegirl & I get crackin’. At that moment I was in more of a, ‘I want to wear this blazer on this occassion’ type of mood so we went with it. Whether you’re planning outfits around shoes, statement pieces, jewelry – it doesn’t matter, friends. Whatever works best for you. Most of my favorites are at the dry cleaners – luckily I have a few NYFW gems that I never unpacked [don’t judge] & a few new diddies from the DS sale last week. Who needs to clean when you can just buy more? JUST KIDDING, MOM.
With a few outfits planned for major points in the week, life seemed a little more manageable. Or maybe it was just the champs. Either way, my homeskillet K, a few trusty neutral dresses, & Tiziano wine came to my rescue making this week much more managable than I expected it to be!

This is by far the best idea I have ever heard!
My only question is this: What do you do when you work in an office with a casual dress code? I just switched jobs and if I wear anything other than jeans… I look a little ridiculous and out of place. I’m a bit lost with making my corporate wardrobe match my new used-to-be-a-startup office.
