I’m currently in Portugal, eating my body weight in cheese & having a damn good time doing so. Over the past few days I’ve gotten loads of questions from you guys regarding what goodies I packed in my carry-on so I thought I’d dedicate something
short obscenely long + sweet to my international travel essentials.
It’d been a few years since I’d traveled overseas & while I couldn’t wait to gear into vacation mode I was a smidge anxious about what to pack for nearly 10 hours in the air. That’s a whole lotta hang time for a fella that doesn’t care much for air travel. Woof. A few of my favorites for domestic travel can be found in my latest travel post but international travel is a bit of a different beast. So I like to be prepared for anything.
External chargers & phone case chargers – I have found these nuggets essential in all kinds of situations & flying on any airline that’s not Virgin Atlantic is one of them. I got this one at fashion week last year & it’s the best I’ve found – I love that there’s an on/off switch to control the charge
Laptop, iPad, camera (not pictured)
Camera bag that doubles as a purse – I had one hell of a time trying to find a bag that:
- provided enough structure to appropriately protect my camera
- was big enough to house it & other daily essentials
- was small enough to comfortably tote around & fit into my carry-on bag
- neutral enough to go with every outfit I packed
Right? A situation for sure. Until I came across the Danielle Nicole mini Alexa. I’d loved my regular-sezed Alexa for a little over a year so I figured the mini would be perfect. I’m 3 days in & it’s doing a flawless job.
Carry-on bag – carry-on bags have been the bane of my existence for years, YEARS, I tell you. A friend suggested I invest in a bag that I’d have for the rest of my life but hai I’m 26 & don’t make that kind of money & honestly I had no idea where to begin looking. The Lo & Sons O.M.G. bag swooped into my life at the perfect time & it’s been a lovefest ever since. I have zero qualms. This is thee perfect carry-on. If you’re looking to invest in a quality piece that will last you ages, I strongly recommend this bag. For the rest of the month, get 20% off your favorite Lo & Sons bag using code: DISTRICTSPARKLE1
I also make sure I have a few other diddies within reach…
Wipes & deodorant are obvious picks but I also keep a little hair pick-me-up close by as well as a favorite hat, jacket, & scarf. Sunglasses are a given, especially on long flights back from good trip with great friends (see also: hangover cures) & I always keep super fragile or pricey items on my bod at all times. Sentimental jewelry or fragile lenses are just begging to be lost. Don’t give in.
