For about a year, I’ve sworn by this Bumble and Bumble powder whenever I need to soak up oil and add volume. It was my #1 dry shampoo even though, technically, it’s not marketed as a dry shamp. Hashtag you’re missing out here, Bumble. The only thing I wish I could change about this magical powder is it’s dispensory mode. I prefer a spray powder for all over coverage while you have to plop this stuff on in a particular place and rub it in. Which, at the end of the day, isn’t the worst thing in the world because the powder has actual magical powders but if I could get any more first world, I’d request this in powder spray form.
Welp. Popsugar sent me their Summer must-have box and in it was a travel bottle of Batiste dry spray shampoo. I hoped that it would rock my world but with a drawer full of sample beauty products my expectations were low. One morning, I was running exceptionally late and remembered the newest addition to my drawer of misfit travel sized products. I was already in a mood and didn’t want to deal with having to strategically dump powder on my head. To the drawer of misfit travel sized products I go for that new spray. And then my entire life changed. Shake, spray, rub in, go. No residue, no smell, no residue, no color, NO RESIDUE. I kept touching my hair throughout the day just to make sure. It was like I had washed my hair that morning. And for those of you who hate washing your hair as much as I do you know how glorious this feeling is. The brilliance of it all. And it’s been sitting at every freaking drugstore I’ve ever been to. For years. In front of my face. But I assumed because it was inexpensive it was cheap. Uh, no. Big mistake. Huge. I went on Amazon that night and bought 4 full sized bottles in different flavors and two in the travel size just in case Batiste decided to stop making them overnight which is entirely possible. Have you forgotten the John Frieda Beach Blonde fiasco? Thankfully, he’s seen the light.
So, am I a Batiste convert? Eh, I dunno. I still love my Bumble and Bumble to pieces and Bastiste doesn’t really give me the volume that I crave and get from Bumble. HOWEVER, it is the perfect dry shampoo for daily use.
VERDICT: Batiste on the daily. Bumble on days I need volume.
Batiste absorbs and blends in better but I find the can doesn’t last as long as Psssst so back I go!
I’ve noticed that too. The only true downfall!! Pssst was a little too sticky, in my opinion. Batiste is cheap enough, I don’t mind stocking up!
Absolutely my fave. I feel like I’m cheating on DryBar, but it’s truly the best :)
Love the smell of the Drybar dry shamp but it’s another one that’s too sticky for my liking. Club Batiste all the way!
My issue with Batiste products is the foul smell. I know they’re supposed to have different pleasant scents, but all of the ones I’ve tested are too weird for truly cuddle-worthy hair. You mentioned that this product had no smell, but that it also came in several flabours. Can you clarify your experience with the smell?
My favorite is the bottle marketed as the “original” scent. The bottle has dark green, light green, and yellow stripes on it. I also like the “blush” bottle – this is the one with the pink flowers on it. It’s light and clean without being too floral. 9 times out of 10 I use the original “scent” and finish it off spritzing my daily perfume near my hair. Hope this helps!
I had been using Klorane dry shampoo for over a year, and at $19/bottle when it only lasted 2 weeks I was desperate for other options. I have tried over 15 kinds of dry shampoo (maybe more, I’m an oily, limp-haired addict) and while Klorane is a clear winner, and Alterna’s dry shampoo (in powder, not spray form) is a great runner up (though inconvenient), Batiste is incredible. I like the blush scent even though it’s strong jsut as a personal choice over “Original,” but I would never recommend “Wild,” or “Cherry” scents. While Batiste isn’t my first choice, for $6 on Amazon I can feel much better about my obsessive use than the $19 Klorane.
Agree with you re scents. So unappealing. Sticking with the original scent for now. NEVER heard of Klorane! I’m a sucker for dry shampoo – I’ll have to give this one a try. Thanks for sharing!
I too am on the Klorane bandwagon but for the price, Batiste is great! So I use Batiste for everyday and save the Klorane for “special” occasions (that clearly aren’t special enough for me to wash my hair).
Hahahaha touche. Just learned about Klorane in the last 32 seconds. Have to try this jam out.
