Between the 86 articles I’ve read that suggest capsuling your wardrobe fosters less chance for sartorial chaos and only keeping things in my life that bring me joy, I figured I’d give this new fad a shot. The whole point of a capsule wardrobe is to streamline the pieces you have in your closet so they can be mixed and match with basically every other item they’re hanging next to. Granted, this won’t work for everyone but we can sure as hell try, right?
Technically, you’re not supposed to separate into seasons, but I figure this is as good as it’s gonna get my first time around. While all of these pieces are perfect for summertime mixing, a decent amount of them can be transitioned into fall and a few can even be worn layered in winter.
What do you think about the rise in this capsule collection trend? Have you used the concept to streamline your own closet? I’d love for you to share your favorite pieces with me in the comments below!
I tried it in the fall (seen here https://mortarandpastel.wordpress.com/2016/01/06/what-i-wore-capsule-wardrobe/) and it was pretty good for like the first week and a half when i started putting outfits together. By the end of the month, it was the same old same old outfits that I kept repeating. It does take a lot of the guess work out of the mornings since my options were so limited.
Going strong after two weeks but can see where this might get tricky soon. Fingers crossed!
